Ah, another Sunday comes to an end. I must say I am pretty worn out. I’ve been drawing and inking steadily these past few days, so as to finish all the drawings for the book I am currently working on before it’s time to go back to my part-time job. I’m almost done –all I need to do is draw and ink the cover and one 2-page spread, as well as finish the inking on two 2-page spreads that are already drawn. Then I have to color it all, of course, but I can easily find time to do that during the workweek.
I am working a little harder, faster and better than usual for a number of reasons. First of all, I just put a lovely light-blue bicycle (this one, to be precise) on layaway at a local bike shop, and can’t wait to get the money to pay the rest of it off so I can bring it home (about $250.00.) Second, I need most of the money I’ll be getting to pay next month’s rent (um, shouldn’t that be the most important reason?) and third, my manga May wishlist is pretty big. So I really need to get this book done and paid for as soon as possible, and hopefully sign for a new one too. Sigh…
In other news, all my manga and other comic books are now protected in nice, thick vinyl slip-covers now. I put the covers on over a hundred books on Saturday afternoon, while watching the second and third seasons of Dinosaurs on DVD.
These slip-covers, made by a company called Brodart, are really useful and something anyone with a decent manga collection should seriously consider purchasing. They are reasonably priced, very durable, as well as easy to put on and remove once you get the hang of it. For standard-sized manga books, be sure to get item #11075013. These are the covers used for books that are 7 1/2″ high. They cost a mere $0.38 each and bulk discounts are offered when you get more than 25. You can buy them here.
That’s all for now; you can expect more reviews during the week, as usual.

Summary: As a child I actually had little exposure to Harvey comics. I grew up in Argentina, and mostly read Disney comics, but every once in a while I did manage to get my hands on some Harvey here and there; namely Richie Rich, Little Audrey and the occasional Little Dot. I think I ran into Little Lotta and Baby Huey at some point but it’s a faint memory. However, Hot Stuff the Little Devil was almost completely alien to me.
I thought you may find this interesting.
