It’s official: I’ve gotten myself a new hobby.
Ever seen those really realistic-looking toy animals manufactured by brands such as Schleich, Safari LTD or Papo? Schleich ones are sold at F.A.O. Schwarz, Toys “R” Us, Target and a number of other places. You can find Safari LTD animal figurines at Michael’s. They are also very widely available online (I happen to favor this store.)
I’ve taken to collecting them and photographing them in natural settings, sometimes making “dioramas” with accessories such as the Safari LTD pine tree you can see in the accompanying photo.
So much I found myself enjoying this, that I joined a score of Flickr groups to share my photos (such as The Nature of Toys and Schleich Animals) and later created my own group for them, named simply Realistic Plastic Animals.
